Drake's grinders employ a closed loop system that allows for precision positioning. Hydrostatic ways provide a no-stick, no-vibration, stiff environment. The velocity loop uses million-count servo motors that discriminate to less than a millionth of an inch. The positioning loop features glass scales with a resolution of four millionths of an inch (one tenth of a micron).
